We want to make your display run as smoothly as possible. Below are answers to some of the most common questions that we’re asked. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, feel free to reach out.
Are you insured?
We’re fully insured to put on firework displays, we have £5-million public liability insurance. Proof of insurance will be provided upon request.
Do you provide Risk Assessments & Method Statements?
Yes, as a part of our service we perform site visits so we can meet you and see the venue. This allows us to complete our risk assessment for your location, we will scale the display to your venue to ensure everybody’s safety.
Can I have fireworks at my event?
We can usually design a display to safely fit venues that do allow fireworks. Please confirm with your venue that they will allow fireworks and if they have any specific instructions. We will also need to make contact with the venue before we can confirm your booking and arrange a site visit.
What time can I have a display?
Under the Fireworks Regulations 2004, you can only have a firework display up to 11.00pm. There are exceptions for Bonfire Night, New Years Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year. On these occasions displays are permitted up to 1.00am. Some venues will have their own restrictions on timings and noise levels.
We would recommend holding the display after sunset, once the sky is dark where possible. This can be quite late in summer months. We can provide daytime smoke fireworks if an earlier display, or photo opportunity is required.
What qualifications do you hold?
Our team has undertaken a Person with Specialist Knowledge course (PwSK) for Category F4 Fireworks. This course meets the mandatory competency regulation that became a legal requirement on 4th July 2013 for all persons handling Category 4 materials.
Additionally, we have team members with dangerous goods (ADR) vehicle driver qualifications to allow us to transport materials for displays.
How do you light your fireworks?
All of our displays are electronically fired using industry-leading technology. This ensures the safety of your guests and our team. We usually stand near the crowd to monitor the display and can stop the show should there be a need to.
What are your payment terms?
We require a 30% deposit to secure your date for a private display. The remaining balance must be received at least 30 days before your event.
What areas do you service?
We are based in the Cotswolds but we can travel further afield to perform a display. Most of our displays are within 30 miles of Cirencester. Additional fees may be applied to cover our costs for long-distance travel.
Can I have a quiet display?
We are able to use lower-noise product to reduce the noise of our fireworks display. The display will not contain any fireworks with a burst to keep the noise down, but the lift charges will still make a noise at ground-level. The remaining sounds do not travel very far.
Can the display be a surprise?
Absolutely! We've had brides and grooms keep the fireworks a surprise for guests, and we've also had family members book in secret for the couple.
We will make every effort to keep visibility and noise to a minimum during set-up. At some venues keeping it a secret once we are on site can be very difficult due to the layout of the site.
How long do you need to be on-site?
Most displays require around 2-3 hours to set up prior to the display. Once finished it will usually take another 1-2 hours to clear up.
This will vary depending on the scale and complexity of the display. Low-noise displays usually take longer to clear up due to the nature of the fireworks that we will need to use.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Depending on the weather condition we may still be able to fire your display. We waterproof the fireworks on-site if rain is due.
If there are strong winds this may affect the safety of the display. An assessment will be made by our team that will dictate whether the display can go ahead.
What happens if I need to cancel?
If our team arrives on site and has begun setting up and you choose to cancel there will be cancellation fees applied to cover our costs before a balance is refunded.
If Cotswold Fireworks Ltd is unable to fire your display due to safety reasons beyond your control, we will be able to process a refund minus any costs already incurred.
